How a lesson unfolds

This sequence is a guide. The pace changes with the wind, fatigue, confidence in the water and each rider's previous experience.

01
First phase · safety and kite controlWind window, release systems, positioning. Piloting a training kite, feet in the sand, then in the water.
02
Second phase · body draggingMoving through the water pulled by the kite, riding upwind, recovering your board. The step everyone wants to skip and that costs two sessions later.
03
Third phase · waterstart and first runsStanding up, going, stopping. Most students get there in this window. By the end of the 6h package, you're riding the lagoon with an instructor watching you. These supervision sessions are booked separately, Rs 1,500 for 2h. The first one is free if booked online.
04
Fourth phase · towards independenceRiding both directions, going upwind, relaunching alone, handling your own gear from A to Z. This is when you can rent without supervision, and take the IKO certification.
Comebacks and mixed levels

Get back on the water without starting again

You have already ridden but your last session was a while ago? The instructor checks kite control, release systems and your ability to hold ground, then moves quickly to the goal that matters to you.

  • A confidence refresher before the first full session of your trip
  • Couples can work on two different goals
  • 10% off from 3 people booked together
A student learning to prepare a kite with a PKM instructor

Private or semi-private?

Semi-private costs roughly half as much per person, with individual gear for each student. Progress is nearly as fast, provided both students have a similar level and build. In private lessons, the pace is entirely yours and progress is faster in the first few hours.

Questions about beginner lessons

Do I need to know how to swim?

Yes, being comfortable in the water is necessary. You can stand on most of the learning area of the lagoon, but an impact vest is provided and worn at all times.

Do I need experience in another board sport?

No. Kitesurfing is learned with your hands first, not your feet. Wakeboard or snowboard experience helps with the board phase, not the kite piloting.

How much time between two sessions?

Ideally every other day, or two days in a row followed by a break. Doing 6 hours in one day is counter-productive: fatigue erases what you've learned.

Can two different levels share a lesson?

Yes when the gap allows the instructor to keep both people safe and give each one a clear goal. If the levels are too far apart, the team will suggest two coordinated slots instead.
